The Heartwork Institute is “Where the heart of the matter is all that matters.” This mission is embodied by the daily acts of Heartwork creator, spiritual director and teacher, Dale Goldstein.
Since 1966, Dale Goldstein has been committed to exploring the many uses of meditative healing and he is a teacher of various holistic methods, which he uses to heal individuals, groups and organizations.
The journey of Dale Goldstein started at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University, where he earned a bachelor’s in secondary education in 1967 and a master’s in social work in 1969. By 1971, Dale Goldstein decided to move to Rochester, NY, to pursue his passion for practicing Zen under the teachings of Roshi Philip Kapleau.
Nine years later, Dale Goldstein decided to change to an awareness meditative practice with Toni Packer, with whom he learned from for the next eight years. Dale Goldstein has been exploring the applications of various holistic methods since and uses them as ways to open up the mind and heart.
But Dale Goldstein’s healing and teaching goes well beyond meditative and holistic practices. In 1977, Dale Goldstein co-founded and directed the Rochester Center for Healing Arts, a holistic health education and multi-disciplinary treatment center. At this same juncture in his life, Dale Goldstein also taught healing arts throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
But it wasn’t until 1981 when Dale Goldstein used the culmination of his years of learning and teaching to create Heartwork, a deeply penetrating process that supports the growth and healing of the body, mind, and spirit of individuals, groups and organizations.
For the past 37 years, Dale Goldstein has served as the director of The Heartwork Institute, and in addition to that role, Dale Goldstein has also taught his holistic methods at renowned venues such as Esalen Institute, Omega Institute, The Crossings, Rowe Conference Center, Spirit House (Bermuda), and numerous other churches.
The teachings of Dale Goldstein are further displayed in his award-winning book, “Heartwork: How to Get What You Really, REALLY Want.” This life-changing book gives readers the orientation and primary tools for working through their personal issues.
A genuine truth-seeker, Dale Goldstein gets fulfillment out of working with individuals and groups who are not satisfied with their lives in some way. He has been working with businesses and non-profit organizations for nearly 25 years to help them connect their unique life experiences to create and sustain a thriving and healthy work environment. Dale Goldstein’s past and present clients include Kodak, the County of Arlington Virginia, New Horizons Computer Learning Center, Cancer Action, and Lifetime Health.
